Back in the winter, we hosted our very first PRB Mystery Homebrew Challenge! The “mystery” arose when we provided each brewer with a “Brewer’s Pantry” of surprise, pre-selected ingredients. Each brewer received the same selection and were only allowed to use those ingredients provided. The goal was to brew a 5 gallon batch of any beer style of their choice and submit samples for the competition. We had 25 participants and a creative range of beer styles were submitted. Some brewers even smoked their own malts and others soured their own mash. Our team tasted each entry, provided feedback to each brewer and selected a winner!

We were so impressed with the creativity of the entries that it was difficult to narrow it down to a winner. So we are excited to announce that this year’s first inaugural PRB Mystery Home Brew Challenge winner is Ralph Pike with his Sour Belgian IPA!

As winner, once it’s safe to do so, Ralph will get to brew his winning recipe on our system, which we’ll release for everyone to try! Thanks again for everyone who participated, it was a load of fun and we’re so excited to see the quality of home brewers in this province!
